Building Safety - Resident Engagement
Following the tragic Grenfell Tower fire in June 2017, the government carried out an inquiry which has led to the introduction of the Building Safety Act 2022. This legislation brought about stronger regulations for higher-risk residential buildings - blocks with seven or more storeys, or that are 18 meters or higher.
This page is for residents (tenants and leaseholders) living in Alliance Homes higher-risk residential buildings, as defined by the Building Safety Act 2022.
Building Safety Resident Engagement Strategy
You can see and download our Building Safety Resident Engagement Strategy by clicking the link on the right hand side.
This strategy sets out all the ways in which we can keep you informed about building safety matters, how we'll involve you in decisions about your block and how you can raise any safety concerns with us.
This is a live document which we'll review and update regularly to reflect your feedback. We're keen to get your views on the strategy, and any suggestions for improvement. Email us at buildingsafety@alliancehomes.org.uk.
Consultation
During September-October 2024, we've carried out consultations with residents in all our higher-risk residential buildings at Alexandra House, Bruton House and Hillsborough House in Weston-super-Mare. Based on residents' feedback, we're creating building safety information packs specific to each block. These will be distributed to all residents living in one of our high rise buildings before the end of 2024.
Resident consultation events have taken place throughout September at each of our three high-rise buildings, with the consultation period spanning three weeks from the date of the event:
- Alexandra House - Thursday 19 September 2024 (consultation closed 10 October)
- Bruton House - Thursday 12 September 2024 (consultation closed 3 October)
- Hillsborough House - Thursday 26 September 2024 (consultation closed 17 October)
Those who couldn't make it to the event had the opportunity to fill in an online questionnaire, or request a freepost form. If you've missed the consultation but would still like to have your say, please contact us at buildingsafety@alliancehomes.org.uk.
