Alliance News Issue 8

Welcome to the summer edition of Alliance News - here’s the latest burning news from Alliance Homes

Alliance News lets you know what’s happening here at Alliance Homes and how we’re improving our communities and helping our customers in your neighbourhood.

Marina Gardens sales have launched

38 Shared Ownership apartments at our landmark development, Marina Gardens in Portishead, have been released for sale. This is the first phase release for the development with phase two homes for social rent and rent to buy coming in the Autumn.

We’ve already seen a lot of interest with 21 of the homes now reserved after only two weeks and applications are being processed for many of the others. We’re looking forward to welcoming our first customers as they move in this Autumn. You can read more about it here.

The heart of our decision making

Members of the customer feedback panel having a meeting.

Our new Customer Feedback Panel held its first meeting in May and it the customers looked at how we make sure our customers’ priorities are heard and acted upon.

The panel is helping us to review our performance and focus on key issues for us to address. They will also act as a sounding board for proposed changes to service delivery, help us review policies as well as ensuring that we identify what services our customers’ value. You can find more information about the panel here.

A sound investment

Alliance Homes is seen as a good organisation to lend money to. Our A1 Moody’s rating and robust finances meant that when we recently went to the ‘private placement’ loan market, the opportunity to lend to us was seen has ‘highly sought after’ according to our advisers.

This strong position meant that we were able to comfortably raise £100m through this loan method. We’ll be using this money to continue investing in our communities and building more homes.

Sustainable growth

It’s no secret that one of our focused five aims is to deliver new affordable homes and this was shown recently in Inside Housing's annual big builder's report. Alliance Homes is the 9th fastest growing housing association in the country. If you have a subscription, you can read the article here.

One of our other focused five aims is to be a green and ethical business and we were pleased to complete on two new EPC A rated homes in Tickenham. These sustainable homes will keep C02 down as well as the bills of our customers.
