Alliance News Issue 7

Our new strategy – Plan A 2.0

This week we launched our new strategy – Plan A 2.0. Our original Plan A, back in 2017, was an ambitious five-year strategy that set a new direction for Alliance Homes. That strategy has now been updated to Plan A 2.0 and looks forward to 2027.

Plan A 2.0 is based on the insights we gained when we consulted and engaged with our customers, colleagues and stakeholders.

Central to the new strategy is the reason we exist – To create great places that our customers are proud to call home.

In the plan we’ve set out our focused five, the areas that we want to concentrate and be measured on. You can read the strategy here.

£75m loan to meet the challenges of the future

We’ve secured a £75m sustainability-linked loan from Lloyds Bank. We’re going to use the loan to support out plans for building 2,000 new homes, hitting ambitious sustainability targets and helping to tackle fuel poverty and the climate emergency.

Lloyd’s Bank will discount the loan subject to Alliance achieving certain sustainability KPIs. These consist of going beyond government standards for energy efficiency by hitting EPC C on all our stock by 2028, building 2,000 new homes over the next 10 years, and installing 519 new photovoltaic systems. This loan also comes soon after the news that Moody’s, the credit rating agency, awarded us with a score of A1, the highest rating a housing association can receive. Read more about it here.

Responding to the cost-of-living crisis

Prices rises and inflation pressures are felt most by those people who have the least amount of money. We know that many of our customers will be feeling this pinch and we want to help them through this.

We’ve launched a new financial support package designed to support those in need as well as providing information on where help is available from other organisations.

We’ve enhanced the Springboard Fund which is designed to support those financially affected by COVID-19 or  who are experiencing hardship because of increased rent liability,

In addition we have launched the Essential Living Fund which will  support eligible customers to help cover the costs of practical items such as energy, white goods, carpet etc

In addition to this we’ve allocated funding to support mental health and wellbeing access, advice and support for those who are facing a tough time right now. View our financial support page here.

We stand with Ukraine

Everyone at Alliance Homes wants to help the people of Ukraine. The biggest refugee crisis in Europe since the second world war means that housing has a big role to play. We’re ready to work with North Somerset Council to help find homes for refugees.

We also know that many of our existing customers want to welcome refugees into their homes. This is something we are ready to support and so we’ve put together a webpage to guide them through the process. You can view it here.

Party in the parks!

At the end of March our communities enjoyed two parties. First was Pill’s Party in the Park to celebrate the work that’s taken place for the ‘beautification’ of Pill. Local community groups created murals, planters and flowerpots and Alliance Homes was one of the organisations who helped to make it happen.  You can read about it here.

The second event was in Weston to celebrate the opening of the outdoor gym. This was another community-led initiative that Alliance Homes representatives gave a little help to.
